On the detection of neutrino oscillations with Planck surveyor

چکیده
The imprint of neutrino oscillations on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy and polarization power spectra is evaluated in a ΛCHDM model with two active neutrino flavors, consistent with the structure formation models and the atmospheric neutrino oscillations data. By using the Fisher information matrix method we find that the neutrino oscillations could be detected by Planck surveyor if the present value of the lepton asymmetry Lν ≥ 4.5×10−3, the difference of the neutrino squared masses ∆m ≥ 9.7× 10eV and the vacuum mixing angle sin 2θ0 ≥ 0.13, showing the existence of a significant overlap between the region of the oscillation parameter space that can be measured by Planck surveyor and that implied by the atmospheric neutrino oscillations data.

Neutrino Oscillations and Lorentz Violation
Most data acquired to date by experiments in particle physics are successfully described by the minimal Standard Model (SM). One exception is the observation of neutrino oscillations, which are now well established and provide a compelling indication that the minimal SM requires modification. The inclusion of small masses in the neutrino sector of the SM suffices to describe the bulk of the exp...
متن کاملWave-Particle duality at the Planck scale: Freezing of neutrino oscillations
A gravitationally-induced modification to de Broglie wave-particle duality is presented. At Planck scale, the gravitationally-modified matter wavelength saturates to a few times the Planck length in a momentum independent manner. In certain frameworks, this circumstance freezes neutrino oscillations in the Planck realm. This effect is apart, and beyond, the gravitational red-shift. A conclusion...
متن کاملNeutrino Oscillations without Neutrino Masses or Heavy Mass Scales: A Higher-Dimensional Seesaw Mechanism
Recent theoretical developments have shown that extra spacetime dimensions can lower the fundamental GUT, Planck, and string scales. However, recent evidence for neutrino oscillations suggests the existence of light nonzero neutrino masses, which in turn suggests the need for a heavy mass scale via the seesaw mechanism. In this short note, we make two observations. First, we show that a higher-...
متن کاملSeesaw Mechanism in Warped Geometry
We show how the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses can be realized within a five dimensional (5D) warped geometry framework. Intermediate scale standard model (SM) singlet neutrino masses, needed to explain the atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations, are shown to be proportional to MPl exp((2c − 1)πkR), where c denotes the coefficient of the 5D Dirac mass term for the singlet neutrino wh...

The current searches for neutrino oscillations seem to suggest an approximate Le −Lμ−Lτ flavor symmetry. This symmetry implies a pair of degenerate neutrinos with mass m0 and large leptonic mixing. We explore the possibility that gravitational interactions break this global symmetry. The Planck scale suppressed breaking of the Le − Lμ − Lτ symmetry is shown to lead to the right amount of splitt...
